Nutrition Involvement
The Nutrition Department at SHS is also involved in:
- The Eating Disorders Support Team
A multidisciplinary team of health care professionals working together to help improve the health of students facing disordered eating at UCONN. More info
- S.H.A.P.E. (Students Helping to Achieve Positive Self Esteem), a Peer Education Group
Peer educators work towards preventing eating disorders at UCONN by creating an awareness of this health issue, educating students about the symptoms and health risks, and promoting a more accepting attitude towards body shape and size.

- Eating Disorder Awareness Week
- Stress Down Day
- Great American Smoke-Out
- SRF Wellness Bulletin Board - Every month the Nutrition Department creates an educational bulletin board which is displayed in the SRF. Many months other departments on campus display their wellness information with the coordination of the Nutrition department.
- Nutrition talks in the residential halls on a topic of your choice. The following are some examples: fad diets, vegetarian nutrition, eating healthfully in the dining halls, Body Image and the media (provided by SHAPE peer educators).
