Peer Education
Peer Education at Student Health Services
Student Health Services offers two peer education groups. Students Helping to Achieve Positive Esteem (S.H.A.P.E.) work with the Nutrition department and Sexperts with the Health Education department.
S.H.A.P.E.
S.H.A.P.E. is a peer education group devoted to a cause. We strive to prevent eating disorders on the UConn campus by fostering an awareness of eating disorders and disordered eating. S.H.A.P.E. provides education about the associated health risks and promotes accepting attitudes toward body size.
Sexperts
Sexperts work to promote positive and responsible sexuality. They educate UConn students about STDs, safer sex and pregnancy prevention options. Sexperts assist with a variety of programs including aromatherapy, massage, feng shui and much more.
