Smoking Cessation

Quitting? You can find help at Student Health Services

Congratulations! You are taking an important step to become smoke free. Stopping smoking may be the best thing you can do for your health. Your body will begin to heal within 20 minutes of your last cigarette.

Quitting is not easy. Luckily you don’t have to go it alone. Resources at Student Health Services are waiting to assist you in this challenge.

Primary Care

Start Here! Consider making an appointment to meet with a physician or nurse practitioner before you set your quit date. Our health providers can provide individual counseling and self-help materials.

Call 860-486-2719 or stop by Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. to make an appointment.

Pharmacy Services

Many resources exist to help you help yourself quit smoking. Nicotine patches and gum can gently wean your body from tobacco. These products are available at the Pharmacy.

We encourage an appointment with a Student Health Services health provider before you purchase these products. See: Primary Care.

Pharmacy Hours: Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-12:15 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Health Education

Valuable information about smoking cessation can be obtained by calling the Health Education office at 860-486-0772 or by stopping by our office Wilson Hall (South Campus.)

Health Education assists in coordinating the annual Great American Smoke Out with several departments including Nutrition and Recreational Services. If you would like more information about the annual Smoke Out, please contact our office or check out our website.

Counseling & Mental Health Services

College life is demanding both physically and mentally. Giving up tobacco may increase your stress level. The providers in Counseling & Mental Health Services can help you develop coping strategies.
